🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure About Size Updates Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information. The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Modifications Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Manual Updates A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
